Design Stage
You have your budget, now it’s time for the creative stage – the design stage!
You need to find a designer – the person who is going to ‘get’ your ideas and come up with a design. Choosing a designer can be a challenge though. Do you deal with an architect, a draftsman or a building designer? They are all building professionals but generally do things a little differently.
An architect will offer a more detailed design, whereas a draftsman, while more affordable, might provide less detailed specifications and finishes. Either way, take your time to do some research on different designers in your region and what sort of work they do.
We work with numerous designers on a regular basis. We can guide you to the person who is just right for you and your project. You need to have a good working relationship with your designer and you need to be able to trust them.
If we haven’t been involved before now, this is a great time to get us involved. We can meet with you and your designer to get some preliminary costings underway.
It is important to let your designer know what your budget is right from the start. They will then be able to give you some guidance as to what is achievable.
Generally, your designer will produce some concept plans as the first stage in the process.
